Floral wrap top

I was unsure if I would actually like this pattern. I have had issues with wrap tops and dresses before. But I decided to bite the bullet and have a go. I used fabric with a little stretch and based on my measurements I cut a size C. I think I could have gone down a size as there is a lot of ease in this pattern.

The instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for a beginner and there are no tricky fastenings. The instructions tell you to use french seams, but as my fabric was a little thicker I decided to sew regular seams and finish them on the overlocker. The edges/ hems were all turned and stitched as a baby hem.

I only made a couple of minor changes. to prevent the fabric from stretching out on the front neckline edge I added a layer of selvedge to the seam allowance before hemming it. I also added a facing to the bottom of the tie as my fabric was printed and the white underside looked a bit odd next to the navy print.

I was a bit unsure about this pattern, to begin with, but once I’d finished it I’m actually very happy. I originally planned to wear with trousers made in the same fabric as a faux jumpsuit. but it just doesn’t feel quite right and I feel like I’m wearing PJ’s. However, both pieces work really well on their own.
