A review of Closet Core Patterns Sienna Maker Jacket

I’m here to tell you that Sienna can be made with Wool, you heard me…Wool! I made the short C version of Sienna with brushed wool and tweed. I’m not sure if wool would  work with the longer versions, but in my opinion heavy denim and coating wool are almost the same weight. So, why not? Give it a shot! I did and it paid off!

She was such a fun pattern to color block and she has so many interesting details! The vent with the buttons is such a fun detail, also all the topstitching is beautifully placed.  I have to say my favorite design detail has to be the lapel. You have an option to add a button on the lapel to close the jacket. Add a flip collar and you get a really cool sophisticated look!

If you have ever shied away from a lapel and notch collar this is the pattern to try. The instructions are spot on, and the markings on the pattern make sewing this collar a breeze. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip transferring all the markings. I suggest using tailor tacks on the collar pieces and coat pieces. The marking match beautifully and once you flip it all out you have a beautiful notch collar with a lapel !!

Sizing/Adjustments: I made size 8, and the fit is loose and comfortable yet flattering. The only adjustment I made is to shorten the sleeve by 2.5 cm.

Happy sewing! You can check out more photos on my instagram account.
