If you’re looking for a cute pinafore that is easy to sew up but has some lovely details then the Katy pinafore is the pattern for you.

The instructions are really straight forward to follow and it sews up easily too. It’s a pattern aimed at beginners with no fastenings and a beautiful cross over detail at the back.

The pattern comes in sizes 6 – 18 which means I can use this pattern for my pre-teen who is almost as tall as I am now! The pattern suggests you use medium weight woven fabrics and I chose to use a bright yellow corduroy because bright colours make me happy ☀️

Katy is a simple pinafore style which is easy to get on and off and easy to make with no fiddly fastenings. With patch pockets and a cross over back detail.

Fabric recommendations for the pinafore: Medium weight woven fabrics e.g. Denim / Corduroy, Heavyweight Cotton / Twill / Gabardine, Jacquard / Brocade, Linen and Linen Mixes.I have used a light weight corduroy and it still works really nicely.

I have paired my Katy pinafore with my much loved @ninaleelondon southbank sweater and I just love the brightness of the pinafore against the navy jumper

You need between 155cm and 175cm of fabric depending on the width of the fabric.

Overall it’s a simple to see, easy to throw on pinafore with some beautiful details. I particularly like the cross over back detail. It’s a PDF pattern but on the Fieldwork website there is an option to have it printed as a copy shop to save you sticking your pattern together.
