Without question, this is my favourite dress out of all my makes. I wasn’t instantly attracted to the Etta dress by Tilly and the Buttons – though I loved the look of it, I wasn’t sure it would be comfy. When I realised that I could make it in a ponte roma fabric, and combine the style with a forgiving, easy material, I was sold.

The instructions from Tilly are clear, comprehensive and easy to follow – it takes time, because there are a lot of stages – but none of it is too tricky. The dress itself is just right – even for a relatively short (5’2″) woman who has waved a white flag to her stomach, it makes me feel just a bit stylish. It’s one of those dresses that gives you confidence – perfect!
