Elegant and floaty

This is my first Indigo smock dress and I can see why everyone loves this pattern. It’s got lots of different variations to make it as easy or as hard as you wish. With different sleeves, gathers and pockets if you wish. The Indigo smock is perfect for beginners but can also be more challenging for experienced sewists. The exposed frill seam adds extra detail, however can be less forgiving on mistakes, as I found out. Indigo can be sewn either as a dress or as a top and has a semi fitted bodice with two darts. After making a size 3 I found the overall fit to be too big for my frame and so took the bodice in. I love how elegant and floaty this dress is yet is a perfect everyday dress that I can wear with anything!
