Easy and Couture

This pattern is really easy to follow and has a lot of hand sewing finishes. The result is an elegant jumpsuit with couture details.

The sizing for this pattern is dead on, sometimes when I sew an 18 in a one piece it can be tight at the crouch as I have a longer torso and I have to make adjustments. In this pattern, it fit perfectly with no adjustments. It was like it was designed for me.

I chose a linen cotton blend and this created structure in the jumpsuit allowing the ruffles on top to really stand out. I did the sit test and it remained relatively wrinkle free after wear so I think it was a good choice.

The instructions and images are excellent in this pattern and I would even recommend it for someone making their first foray into apparel sewing. I am not a beginner but even I picked up a few things from this pattern because the instructions were really good. There is a lot of hand sewing in the lining portions which gives an elegant finish but be prepared to put the time in for those seams. I feel like I could wear this inside out it’s so pretty on the inside.

The big issue in this pattern is the low cut design, if you have larger breasts you may want to wear a camisole or create something in the low V. I have a size D bust and I am comfortable wearing low cut tops but this was way too low for me. I have seen reviews where people sewed a triangle in the V  but with my bigger bust it can look like an obvious cover up if I sew in a patch. I wanted a bit of coverage but wanted to keep the v shape design so I sewed a narrow panel on each side by hand to create some coverage. I think it’s perfect because I can wear a bra but it almost looks like part of the design. No camisole or weird bra needed, it is the perfect amount of coverage for me.

I can’t say enough good things about this pattern, it turned out way nicer than I could have imagined by looking at the pattern picture and I would recommend it to anyone wanting a jumpsuit….plus it has pockets!
