Deer & Doe Melilot Shirt – short sleeves

Hello!

After much contemplation of the pattern (and wondering if I would be able to sew this without creating a disaster that should never have been sewn), I decided to throw myself into the project of making my first Melilot shirt. I say my first because I most certainly can confirm that this is not going to be the last one!

The pattern was simple to follow, and as I followed it strictfully (thank goodness).

I made the mandarin collar and added the front pockets (cos they look lovely). I forgot to match the print but the fabric is so hectic that it does not bother me, the pockets blend well into the shirt.

The fabric comes from Mondial Tissus near Paris – when I saw the toucans, I had to purchase it, the colours and the print made me happy just looking at it. I was waiting for the perfect idea/pattern to use it – which Melilot turned out to be.

I used Prym pearly snaps,I orginially wanted pink ones, but these are super hard to find pfff, why can’t I have pink pearly buttons???

I love the bottom of the shirt which fits my larger butt size ? and just looks lovely.

I cut a size 40 which fits beautifully the cotton fabric.  Match made in heaven.

I do have another fabric (black and white, a little like you would imagine a cow print) I would like to use to make a shirt dress version, and since it is a little slippery (polyester?), I will be cutting out a 42 or 44… or have to adjust the top and bottom sizing. That will be a first so I do think I most probably will make a muslin to be able to fit my bum into it…
