Comfortable smock dress

A review of Tilly and the Buttons Indigo Top and Dress

I wasn’t sure about this pattern, as I thought a smock dress might not be very flattering on me. However I’m a big fan of TATB patterns, and saw some lovely versions on Instagram, so I decided to give it a go. I used some viscose fabric from a charity shop haul, and cut a size 5. It was slightly too big at the shoulders and around the bodice, so I think next time I’d make a 4 instead.

This was a pretty easy pattern to follow, with great clear instructions. I did the version with full length sleeves and no extra ruffles. Once it was finished I decided to add some elastic into the back waist seam, which pulled it in nicely. It’s super comfortable to wear. I can see me making plenty more of these!
