Cielo Top – Closet Core Patterns

A review of Closet Core Patterns Cielo Top and Dress

I’ve really struggled in the past to find cotton tops that have a great fit and look great for those weekend days – then this Cielo top came along!

I love Closet Case’s patterns. Their fit is my fit and the instructions make even the most complicated patterns easy. In 2019 I haven’t really been able to get into a rhythm with sewing so this top was a great opportunity to get back into making clothes. As expected the instructions were very easy and the fit was great. I just had to make two adjustments. I’ve found this in a few high neckline tops, which is there is just too much fabric on my chest, so I made the neckline a little smaller to avoid gaping (is there a name for this adjustment?) and also added a small zip at the back as I needed the neckline to be smaller but I also needed to get it over my head! I also lengthened it by about an inch as I didn’t want my stomach on show.

The final result is a top I can wear all the time. It’s a little bit chilly for it at the moment but it’s a perfect staple for my wardrobe to mix and match with trousers.
