Cape Cod Capelet

A review of Itch to Stitch Cape Cod Capelet

This is a very simple but stylish pattern and extremely quick to make, especially if you have an overlocker – took me just over an hour from start to finish. The raglan sleeves and curved hem, which dips lower at the back, give the garment a really lovely swish and the cowl neck drapes down into a soft V. The fabric is a tencel jersey in slate blue from Sew Over It and whilst you could use any jersey, personally I think a lighter jersey works best for the swish, i.e. a viscose/modal/tencel/bamboo type jersey.

I cut a size S and made not pattern adjustments other than topstitching the cowl seam down to the bodice. I am wearing it here with just a little cami underneath but it would also look nice with a long-sleeved top on colder days. Great for layering!

This would be a great pattern to make for others if you don’t know their measurements as it’s not closely fitting yet still has a lovely shape and would look good on most body types.
