BHL Alix maxidress for my birthday!

A review of By Hand London Alix Dress

Reviewed by karinkay on 7th April, 2019

I made the Alix dress for my birthday in a flowery viscose fabric. I was able to squeeze it out of 3.15 meters instead of the 4 the instructions suggest. I first made a toile from my granma’s old bedsheet to see how it would suit me and ended up sizing down.

I made the following changes to the pattern:
– I added pockets to the side seams 😀
– I pretty much redesigned the cups cause they looked ‘baggy’ on me. I guess it’s supposed to be that way with the wrinkles but I find it rather unflattering.
– Lined the cups, so it’s a little bit warmer
– Shortened both the hem of the dress and the sleeves as I’m only 1.63.

It took quite some time to get the right fit on the cups, but I think it was worth it! The cleavage of the dress is much lower than I usually wear, but as the fit of the neck band piece fits quite nicely, I didn’t have any problems there 😉
