Betty Dress – Sew Over It

A review of Sew Over It Betty Dress

I used a black luxury crepe for my second Betty dress. The crepe has a nice weight to it and isn’t too heavy. I added a beaded lace pane to the front and made a tulle petticoat for a put of extra lift for the skirt.

I made size 10 bust and graded to a 12 for the waist and hip size and it fits well without any adjustments. I have found this with all the patterns from Sew Over It that I have tried so far. Although my usual size is 12 bust – 14 hip and waist.

The construction of the dress is very straight forward and quite quick. I needed help levelling the hem, the crepe was quite shifty to cut and after hanging for 24 hours it was quite uneven. I then hand finished the hem which probably took as long as the construction by machine.

I’m really happy with how this one has turned out and I know I’ll get lots of wear out of it with Christmas coming up.
