Bellatrix Blazer

The cropped version of this pattern is indeed perfect for layering over a dress, as the description says. I picked the pattern for that particular reason, and it worked out really well! I love the pointed front hem. I made this up in a pretty sturdy cotton/linnen gabardine. I like the shape on me (a pear shape), but I’d like to make another version in a softer fabric for a softer look.
The pattern was really easy to use – the pockets look difficult but they’re really not, and the shawl collar is much easier than a regular collar. One thing that I found a bit strange was that the pattern requires you to interface the entire front, and all of the bottom pieces (with the pointy hem). This makes the jacket quite thick, but perhaps is needed to keep the shape properly?
