Babette Jeans

A review of Edition 13

This edition of Fibremood has some really beautiful patterns! I wasn’t in the market for a new pair of jeans per say but as soon as I saw the Babette trousers I knew I had to make a pair for the summer.

I was a little apprehensive about making jeans from a brand new pattern because I hadn’t heard anyone else’s review of them yet and jeans can be a little tricky. Although, I have made jeans previously so I knew broadly what to expect! However, I needn’t have worried because the instructions were great! broken down really clearly with diagrams of each section. I did follow different instructions for the zip fly because I already have some which I found really helpful before so I stuck to what I knew. You could easily find some on YouTube to get you through this part.

The fit is excellent! I think my waist is a bit higher than average so I think in future I would extend the rise but other than that they fit exactly as expected. I made them in Robert Kaufman bleached denim from Sister Mintaka but they would also work really well in a cotton twill. They’re classic cut which always comes back into fashion so definitely worth the effort to add these to your handmade wardrobe.
