Autumn Skirt

Reviewed by Norfolk Daphne on 23rd September, 2020

I bought this unusual viscose from Fabric Godmother at the Stitch Festival back in February and put it in my stash thinking it’d make a lovely autumnal dress, but when I came back to it, it shouted *SWOOSHY SKIRT* to me, so I went with the Fumeterre. I made my usual D&D size 40 (I’m 28″ waist and 39″ hips) and I had to take a total of 4.5″ off the length. The elastic inserted into the back of the waist gives a perfect fit whilst still allowing for cake, a much-needed luxury in these times! There are eight panels to sew together and I used French seams throughout for a neat finish. I can see me wearing this skirt throughout the autumn and winter with various tops and layers. I’m wearing it here with a Tilly and the Buttons Agnes Top, which goes perfectly colour-wise and makes for a really comfortable outfit. I already want to make this skirt again in a dark denim, I think it’d look fab, but if you’d like to read more about this one, please visit my blog: https://norfolkdaphne.wordpress.com/2020/09/21/deer-doe-fumeterre/
