Agnes

If you follow me on Instagram then you will know I am a big fan of The Tilly and The Buttons Agnes Top, it’s a close fitting top designed for jersey knit fabrics and has multiple options to make and lots of online hacks!

Back in February I was feeling inspired by Valentine ’s Day and wanting to spread the love I decided to make Mummy & Daughter matching Agnes tops for my sister and niece. I decided heart elbow patches was one of the subtler options, meaning they’d get more wear rather than just for Valentine’s.

For my niece’s top I used one of her existing tops as a pattern template and extended the top of the sleeve to add the ruching – really simple to do! There are lots of tutorials online if you fancy giving it a go!

I used a paper heart template to cut out fabric hearts, from a jersey knit fabric I purchased from eBay. I found it easier to sew the hearts before attaching/sewing the sleeves; just be sure to mark out where the elbow would go and be sure to place them on the back – I made the late night sewing error of not paying enough attention and making this mistake!

The pleasure of sewing for others really made this project all the more worthwhile…my niece didn’t take it off for three days!
