A versatile classic I will use again & again

A review of Cashmerette Roseclair Dress

The Roseclair is a really versatile pattern, whether you dress it up or down it still looks the part. Despite being made in rather off the wall fabric, i still feel like I can wear it to the office, and even in a light and flowy viscose like this, I can still  wear it all year round with some layers.

Cashmerette have an online calculator to help you choose your fit, which is awesome as the cup sizes are a little intimidating. This is a size 16 E/F, graded to 18 at the waist and I like the overall fit. I feel like it skims all the right bits and the ease is just right. As this is a wrap dress I probably don’t need to do the grading next time, though I would on others without that extra give.

The wrap is a teeny bit risky. It doesn’t show my bra or anything but it rests right above the wire so draws the eye there. I’ll probably add a popper for work but I definitely don’t feel like anything is at risk of escaping or shifting.

I have a love/hate relationship with the sleeves, possibly because the interfacing I used makes them a bit stiff. I think I’d lengthen them half an inch in future to avoid them catching when I bend my arm. I love the shape though, and the way they’ve been designed to hang forward. The gathering at the bottom is nice enough to join the big sleeve trend but understated enough to outlive it.

The pattern calls for 3.8 metres but I had about a metre left of a 4m bolt.
