A showstopper of a dress

I don’t think there is much higher praise than making multiple dresses out of the same pattern and that’s exactly what I did with the Magnolia dress.

The first time was in winter when I made it was in a leopard print crepe from Stof & Stil. I changed the sleeves to not have the puff, made them 3/4 length and made the skirt midi length. This dress instantly became a firm favourite and I wore it for almost all the events I had that season. I just feel so good in it!

For my second version I made it in the viscose gingham you can see in the photo. Making it mini length, using a different fabric type and adding flounce sleeves really made it feel different to my previous version. I think unless you are a sewist you wouldn’t even know it is the same dress.

I made the lower version for these two and for my next one (for there will be a next one… I’m thinking a corduroy one would look amazing) then I’ll make the higher neckline so it’s a bit more wearable for everyday.
