A Mustard tie front Jarrah

A review of Megan Nielsen Jarrah Sweater

When this pattern first came out I was instantly drawn to the cover picture and this is the version that I have made (although this pattern features several different hems, sleeves and necklines).

I used a mustard modal jersey and blue striped ribbing for the collar and cuffs. This worked well, but I think a fabric with a little more weight like a French Terry or sweashirting fabric might be even better.

I shortened the sleeves (as always)! and tightened the cuffs a little – I have small wrists – and aside from that it was pretty straightforward. The tie waist is a little fiddly, and needs to be sewn as neatly as possible as when you tie it, it’s likely that you will see the ‘wrong’ side of the fabric. There’s a helpful blog post on the Megan Nielsen site that I found useful.

I really like it. A sweatshirt is a wardrobe staple let’s face it – and this one has a cute little twist. Literally! Ha! One of the versions on the pattern is a basic standard sweatshirt – no frills or anything fancy- so it’s always good to have that basic pattern to hand too.
