The Asteria dress is a lovely pattern, and I really enjoyed sewing it. It’s a vintage-inspired style, but the semi-fitted shape with definition provided by waist ties means that it’s much comfier than other dresses of a similar overall silhouette. The looser shape also means that there’s no need for any fastenings (other than for the optional button front), which means that it’s a fairly simple pattern to sew.
The fact that the pattern has multiple cup sizes makes it easier to get a nice fit. I made the size recommended for my measurements and it turned out nicely. I lengthened the bodice by an inch and the skirt by 2 inches, but that’s fairly standard for me (I’m 5’9″).
The instructions are very detailed and I found them easy to follow throughout, so sewing the dress was a breeze. I’m already on the look-out for fabric to make another version!
