A fantastic pattern

I cut a straight size 40 of View A and made no adjustments. It’s a loose-fitting dress so I wasn’t too worried about getting a perfect fit, although saying that, next time I might add some waist ties as I’ve seen others do. The dress fits great around the bust but is quite roomy around the waist – fine after a big dinner but perhaps not as flattering as it could be. I think a couple of simple waist ties will solve this (and still leave space for pudding).

One minor tweak was to not bother with the buttonholes – the dress easily slips over your head so I just sewed the buttons on through both layers of material to save time.

I sewed it in a fantastic viscose lawn which has a really lovely drape and which has meant that the dress is quite floaty and has slightly less structure to the ruffles. Next time I might go for a slightly stiffer material to give the ruffles a bit more oomph and see how that turns out….
