I made the Sew Over It Kimono Jacket in a drapey viscose from Stoff Stil and it was the perfect pattern / fabric combination. The slightly slippery nature of the fabric did mean I used rather more pins than usual to ensure a good finish but it was worth the effort.
The pattern itself was, as ever, well drafted with straightforward instructions. This is a pretty simple garment to sew, although it could be made extra special if you chose to use french seams. For this version, I overlocked to finish the seams, both in the interest of speed and because this fabric would have frayed badly otherwise, but I would definitely invest the time on a future version.
I chose to hand slip stitch the band around the front and collar, giving a really classy finish, but did machine sew the other hems; the busy pattern on the fabric itself meant this is hardly visible.
I absolutely love the finished jacket; for full details, see my blog at www.redwsews.wordpress.com
