I’d highly recommend reading through Gertie’s sew-a-long for this dress. One of the first posts she mentions that there is a lot of ease so you should check the finished garment measurements which at printed on the tissue paper, not on the packaging. Because of this I went down a size, I did a muslin to test the bodice and found I didn’t need to do any adjustments. Yay! I made a few minor adjustments to my version, first I only had three yards of this Rifle Paper Co/Cotton+Steel fabric so i made the skirt a little less full, but really it’s still full enough. I also took two inches off each shoulder strap, I will take 2.5″ next time. I also completely lined the bodice, I was a little worried the facing would leave a funny line across my chest. Overall this went together very smoothly, even the lapped zip which I’d never done before but thanks to the sew-a-long I got it on my first try.
It’s hard to say how long this actually took as I followed the sew-a-long so I did each step as it was posted. I’m guessing the first one would take a day to a couple days.
