Great staple shorts

A review of Closet Core Patterns Pietra Pants and Shorts

I used the fold line pattern database to find a simple shorts pattern for the summer and came across this pattern. I really liked the fact the shorts and trousers had elastic in the back waist and allowed for bloating and extra room after dinner! I found the construction simple and the instructions are really easy to follow. The pocket construction was interesting and I love how deep the pockets are! I found constructing the shorts the front and the back of the shorts didn’t match in length so I had to chop a lot off and in my second pair I ended up adding a huge chunk on to lengthen them as they do come up quite short! The waist is also very high so if you don’t like a high waist these might not be for you. I also found they came up quite big so I had to make the elastic quite short in the back for my first pair. They have a lot of ease when made up. Overall though super comfy and easy to make with huge pockets too! I made a size 8 and graded down to a 6 for my hips. I could probably have got away with making a size 6 (going off waist measurements – I have a 28 inch wait).
