Flamingo Kalle!

A review of Closet Core Patterns Kalle Shirt/Shirtdress

My 15 year-old niece came to stay at the weekend and she made this FABULOUS flamingo Kalle Shirt! We opted for the cropped version with the high low hem, the standard button placket, and the band collar for a contemporary look. It’s only the second thing she’s ever made (the first being a TATB Cleo two years ago!) but she pretty much did it all by herself, with me just watching over and guiding her through each step. Here’s what she had to say about it: “I really enjoyed sewing these last two days with my Auntie Jo. My favourite bits were using the burrito method for the yoke (she couldn’t see how it was going to work, but then when she pulled it all through it was like magic!) and making the pleat in the back of the shirt. The hardest part was topstitching the sleeve cuffs because you have to go round in a circle without getting anything tangled up. I’m really happy with how it’s turned out and I absolutely love it. I can’t wait to show it to my friends and the rest of my family and tell them I MADE IT!”
