Kimono Jacket

I made this kimono jacket for a friend. We have a love of African wax print and she picked up this beautiful fabric from her local market for £5! This is a beginner’s pattern. PDF was straight forward to print, cut and tape. There are only 6 pieces – 2 fronts, 2 sleeves, back and neck band. I tried to pattern match as much as possible but the print of fabric is actually not straight! The only alterations I made is adding patch pockets and finished the main seam with Hong Kong finish. I stitched in the ditch instead of edgestitch for the neckband, there are also some handstitching at times. This is quite easy and sewing cotton as well, it would take someone else a day or weekend project but since I’m slow, it took me a few hours over a month’s time with other projects in between. I’ll definitely make one for myself in the near future!
