Suggested fabrics: Medium weight stretch knit fabrics, such as ponte di roma, double knit, interlock, jersey. Check the fabric can be stretched crosswise at least 20% wider than its original width, and that it pings back down to size after stretching.
Fabric requirements: It’s always a good idea to buy a little extra knit fabric to allow for shrinkage.
Long or 3/4 sleeve: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 2.5 m (2 3/4 yards) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.8 m (3 yards)
Cap sleeve: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 2.1 m (2 3/8 yards) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.3 m (2 1/2 yards)
If you are colour blocking your Zadie Dress, you will need the following amounts of fabric:
Bodice: 150 cm (60″) or 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 0.5 m (5/8 yard)
Long or 3/4 sleeve + side panels: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1 m (1 1/8 yards) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.3 m (1 1/2 yards)
Cap sleeve + side panels: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 0.6 m (3/4 yard) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 0.7 m (3/4 yard)
Skirt + pocket facings + neckband: 150 cm (60″) or 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.5 m (1 3/4 yards)
Sizing: 1 – 8 (UK 6 – 20). Please check the size chart.
Notions: Matching thread; 0.9 m (1 yard) of 6-8 mm (1/4″) stay tape, clear elastic, ribbon or strips of knit interfacing; ballpoint or stretch needle for your sewing machine.
