Buy the Strand Dress and Top sewing pattern from Halfmoon Atelier. This design was inspired by simple summer daydreaming, by vivid memories of long, hot summer days, by the romantic narrative of dancing in a field of wildflowers and by the second film in the designer’s all-time favourite trilogy, Before Sunset. The dress has a slight 70s vibe, but with clean modern lines. As a top, it can be worn loose or tucked into a skirt or high waist cutoffs. The dress features in-seam pockets and a drawstring, allowing you to easily adjust the fit and feel of the dress at any point in the day.

Suggested fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics with an element of drape, such as cotton, lawn, double gauze, linen, silk, etc.

Fabric requirements:

Top: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 70 – 140 cm (3/4 – 1 1/2 yd) // 137 cm (54″) wide fabric: 90 – 150 cm (1 – 1 5/8 yd) // 106 cm (41″) wide fabric: 100 – 190 cm (1 1/8 – 2 1/8 yd).

Dress: 150 cm (59″) wide fabric: 170 – 300 cm (1 7/8 – 3 1/4 yd) // 137 cm (54″) wide fabric: 190 – 320 cm (2 1/8 – 3 1/2 yd) // 106 cm (41″) wide fabric: 250 – 420 cm (2 3/4 – 4 5/8 yd).

Sizing: 1 – 18 (approx. UK 6 – 38). All sizes come with a B cup and a D cup option. Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Use your high bust and full hip measurements to choose your base size, then your full bust measurement to choose B cup or D cup. A sewing B­ cup is a full bust that is 5 cm (2″) wider than the high bust measurement. A sewing D­ cup is a full bust that is 10 cm (4″) wider than the high bust measurement.

Notions: Coordinating thread; interfacing for lightweight wovens // For dress drawstring: Approx.­ 3 m/yd of 1 cm (3/8″) twill tape.
