Buy the Children’s Hummingbird Trousers sewing pattern from Pattern by Malena. These wide-leg trousers have pockets and an elasticised waistband. There are two versions. Version 1 is a full length pant with optional tabs that allow you to roll up the legs to 3/4 length. Version 2 is shorts length and has a sewn-on cuff at the leg opening.

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium-weight woven fabric in linen, viscose or cotton.

Fabric requirements: The pattern is designed for fabrics that have been pre-washed, so shrinkage is not factored into the measurements.

Version 1: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 75 – 135 cm (0.8 – 1.5 yd).

Version 2: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 60 – 75 cm (0.65 – 0.85 yd).

Sizing: 1½ – 10 years. Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 3 cm (1″) wide elastic; 2 snap buttons (if you sew the leg tabs).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (18 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet). This pattern has layers so you can print just the size(s) you need.

Two versions of each pattern file are included: one with just the cutting lines (labelled ‘only seam allowance’) and the other with both cutting lines and stitching lines. The copy shop file we print for you shows the cutting lines only to make it easier to know what size to cut out.
