Buy the Men’s Monterey Jacket and Hoodie sewing pattern from Sinclair Patterns. Monterey is a zippered, raglan style knit jacket with a stand collar or scuba style hood. It has a low seat length, and the semi-fitted silhouette allows for light layering. The zipper is finished with facings for a nice, clean finish. The double layered kangaroo style pockets can be made with or without zippers. There is also an optional chest pocket.

Suggested fabrics: Main fabric: Medium to heavy weight knit fabric with at least 20-30% horizontal and 10-20% vertical stretch // Lining: Light to medium weight knit fabric with at least 20-30% horizontal and 10-20% vertical stretch // Cuffs/bands: Medium weight knit fabric with at least 30-50% stretch and good recovery.

Fabric requirements: 140-160 cm (50″-60″) wide fabric: Bodice and facing, 0.9 m (1 yd) // Sleeve, 0.9 m (1 yd) // Kangaroo pocket (lining and main fabric each), 0.4 m (1/2 yd) // Chest pocket (lining), 0.4 m (1/2 yd) // Hood (main fabric and lining), 0.6 m (3/4 yd) // Collar (main fabric and lining), 0.3 m (1/4 yd) // Cuffs/bands, 0.3 m (1/2 yd).

Sizing: US 34 – 52 / XS – XXL in Short, Regular and Tall. Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Short: 163 – 170 cm (5’4″ – 5’7″)

Regular: 173 – 180 cm (5’8″ – 5’11″)

Tall: 183 – 190 cm (6’ – 6’3″)

Choosing your height: The height affects the final fit of the garment at all vertical measurements (not only length, but also armhole depth, depth of the neckline, rise, decorative elements, etc). If you’re on the boundaries of the heights, follow these recommendations: 1) If you have a long torso, choose the next height, 2) If you have long legs, choose the smaller height, 3) If your torso and legs are proportional, choose the next height.

Notions: Thread; open-end (separating) nylon or chunky zipper: short = 66 cm (26″), regular = 71 cm (28″), tall = 76 cm (30″) // Optional for hood: 2 grommets/eyelets (and tools) or buttonhole foot for your sewing machine and 2 pieces of fusible interfacing, 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm (1″ x 1″) // Facing, bodice, hood, band, collar: 0.6 m (3/4 yd) regular non-stretch fusible interfacing // Kangaroo zippered pockets, chest zippered pockets: 0.2 m (1/6 yd) regular fusible interfacing // Kangaroo zippered pockets: 2 matching nylon or chunky zippers at least 18 cm (7″) long // Chest zippered pocket: 1 matching nylon or chunky zipper at least 15 cm (6″) long // Optional: Matching overlocker threads, preferably woolly nylon stretch overlocking thread.
