Buy the Hollywood Trousers sewing pattern from Liesl + Co. These very fitted, moderately high-rise, wide-legged trousers will have you looking and feeling like a classic movie star. This pattern includes a traditional zipper fly with fly shield, back darts for shaping, and optional front pockets with menswear-style pocket stays for a smooth front without gaping or bulging. You can decide whether to sew the optional lining. The inseam on this pattern is moved forward for a better fit to give you truly professional, classically tailored trousers for every occasion.

Suggested fabrics:

Main: Lightweight wools like wool suiting, tropical wool, and wool crepe. Also suitable for twills, fine-wale corduroy, and drapey canvas.

Lining (optional): Cotton lawn, rayon lining (known as cupro or Bemberg), or china silk.

Fabric requirements:

Main: 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric: 2 3/4 – 4 yd (2.5 – 3.7 m) // 58″ (147 cm) wide fabric: 1 3/4 – 3 yd (1.6 – 2.7 m).

Pocket lining (optional and only required if you are not lining the trousers – pocket lining is included in the yardage for the lined version): 1/2 yd (0.5 m).

Lining (optional): 44″ (112 cm) wide fabric: 3 – 3 1/4 yd (2.7 – 3 m) // 58″ (147 cm) wide fabric: 1 3/4 – 2 3/4 yd (1.6 – 2.5 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 20 (approx. UK 8 – 20). Please check the size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Coordinating thread; lightweight or featherweight fusible interfacing; coil zipper (9″ or longer); one 5/8″ button; one sew-in hook and bar closure; 1 1/4 yd (1.2 m) of stabilising tape or 1/4″ twill tape; 1 1/2 yd (1.4 m) of seam binding or hem tape.
