Buy the Frankie Tankie sewing pattern from Vanessa Hansen. The Frankie Tankie is the perfect summer sewing pattern. Cool and effortless, Frankie is loose fitting and slightly cropped, with deep armholes and shoulder ties. It can be made up in an afternoon and has three different cup sizes for minimal pattern faff before getting down to sewing!

There are three versions: fully lined (for very light or sheer fabrics), reversible (for two tops in one!) or finished with facings (for opaque or slightly heavier fabrics). The fully lined top is the main version of the pattern and is a great way to make the inside look just as beautiful as the outside without needing an overlocker or any fiddly techniques. Two bonus dress hacks are also included.

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). Choose A cup/no dart (UK 6 – 14), B cup (UK 8 – 20) or DD cup (UK 18 – 26). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics will work well. Viscose and viscose blends, cottons such as cotton lawn, double gauze or silks and lightweight linen.

Fabric requirements: The fabric requirement is calculated for a fully lined top where the lining in included in the requirement and cut from the main.

Sizes 6 – 18: 115 cm (45″) or 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 1.55 m (1 3/4 yd).

Sizes 20 – 26: 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.35 m (2 5/8 yd) // 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 1.74 m (2 yd).

Sizing: UK 6 – 26. Please check the size charts and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for three different sewing cup sizes: A cup/no dart (UK 6 – 14), B cup (UK 8 – 20) and DD cup (UK 18 – 26). Remember that sewing cup sizes are different from bra sizes. You can calculate your sewing cup size by subtracting your upper bust measurement from your full bust measurement. The difference will tell you which sewing cup size you have: 2.5 cm (1″) = A cup, 5 cm (2″) = B cup, 12.5 cm (5″) = DD cup.

This pattern is drafted for someone who is 167 cm (5’5″) tall.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step instructions; A4 print-at-home pattern (10 pages for A cup, 12 pages for B cup, 14 pages for DD cup); US letter print-at-home pattern (10 pages for A cup, 12 pages for B cup, 15 pages for DD cup); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet for A cup, 1 sheet for B cup, 1 sheet for DD cup); pattern envelope design. This pattern has layers, so you can print just the size(s) you need.
