Buy the Dorothy Dress sewing pattern from Sew La Di Da Vintage. Dorothy is the first sewing pattern in the Starlet Collection, designed in collaboration with 1940s singing trio The Three Belles. This showstopper comes in a gorgeous three-quarter length with a choice of a flared or wiggle skirt.

With her off-the-shoulder V neckline, figure-skimming bodice and slight fishtail skirt, Dorothy is a vision of 1940s showgirl glamour. The Three Belles wore Dorothy at their summer 2015 appearances, including at the Twinwood Festival, and said they’d never gotten so much attention for their outfits before! Dorothy is also perfect for proms, parties, and wedding guest outfits.

Suggested fabrics: Silks and light satins will give Dorothy a softer, lighter feel and an Old Hollywood understated elegance. Duchesse satin and heavier fabrics such as velvet will give a more structured feel to the dress, creating a flattering silhouette and fuller skirt for high impact glamour. The neckline particularly lends itself to embellishment opportunities – try a feather, lace or crystal trim for a truly unique occasion dress.

Wiggle version: 110 cm wide fabric: 2.5 m + 2.5 m lining // 137 cm wide fabric: 2.5 m + 2.5 m lining.

Flared version: 110 cm wide fabric: 4.5 m + 4.5 m lining // 137 cm wide fabric: 3 m + 3 m lining.

Sizing: UK 6 – 18. Please check the size chart.

Notions: Thread; invisible zip, 56 cm (22″) long; optional horse hair for lining.
