Buy the Baby/Child Sunshine Swim Romper sewing pattern from Waves & Wild. This rashie-style romper is perfect for the pool or beach. It has a zip fastening and there are options for long, 3/4 or short sleeves; long, 3/4 or short legs; and colour blocking.

Suggested fabrics:

Main: Light to medium weight swim Lycra.

Lining (for gusset): Swim mesh is the best option but alternatively you can use the same fabric as your main garment.

Fabric requirements:

Main: 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: All one fabric, 40 – 170 cm (1/2 – 1 7/8 yd) // Body only, 40 – 110 cm (1/2 – 1 1/4 yd) // Long sleeves only (short sleeves require half this amount), 30 – 70 cm (3/8 – 5/8 yd) // Colour blocked strip (6-12 months – 8 years only), 80 – 140 cm (7/8 – 1 1/2 yd).

Lining: Up to 100 cm (1 1/8 yd). But if your fabric has equal 4-way stretch, you can rotate your gusset 90 degrees before cutting, and will then only require a maximum of 10 cm (4″).

Sizing: Preemie/small newborn – 8 years. Please check the designer’s size chart.

Notions: Closed zip: up to 0-3 months = 18 cm (7″), 3-6 months – 1 year = 23 cm (9″), 2 – 4 years = 28 cm (11″), 5 – 8 years = 33 cm (13″); scrap of lightweight fusible interfacing and double-sided wash-away tape for inserting zip (optional).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/legal/letter print-at-home pattern (35 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets); projector pattern. This pattern has layers so you can print just the sizes(s) you need.
