 This pattern is named after the inspirational aviator, Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly solo from Britain to Australia.

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Suggested fabrics: 

Outer fabric: Light to medium weight fabrics. A wide variety of fabrics can be used. Fabrics with a little weight to them such as corduroy, denim, felt and wool blends work best. Fabrics with a small amount of stretch (e.g. stretch corduroy) are easiest to sew, but the stretch is not vital.

Inner/lining fabric: Medium/thick, soft, warm fabrics such as sherpa, faux fur, minky or fleece. There is also the option to use a thinner fabric for some parts of the lining. Quilting cotton or microfleece are good choices.

NOTE: At least one of your fabrics needs to have some structure to it, otherwise your hat will be too floppy!

Fabric requirements:

Baby sizes: a maximum of 35 cm (3/8 yd) of each fabric.

Child sizes: a maximum of 40 cm (1/2 yd) of each fabric.

Adult sizes: a maximum of 50 cm (1/2 yd) of each fabric.

Sizing: Newborn-3 months – XL Adult. Please check the size chart.

Notions: If you would like functioning chin straps, you will need a small amount (less than 3 cm) of hook and loop tape (Velcro).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/legal/letter print-at-home pattern (5 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (1 sheet); projector pattern. This pattern has layers so you can print just the sizes(s) you need.
