Buy the Vientiane Skirt sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. Twist and twirl to your heart’s content in this A-line skirt with playful flounces. The Vientiane has a wide contour waistband that sits at the natural waist for comfort and an invisible zipper at the back for a streamlined look. The pattern includes options for in-seam pockets or pleated patch pockets with flaps, as well as an options for lining or not lining the skirt.

Suggested fabrics:

Primary fabric: Use medium weight woven fabric with or without stretch. Wool, broadcloth, linen, crepe, lightweight denim and gabardine are good choices.

Lining: Use cotton batiste, cotton lawn, Ambiance lining or polyester lining. Lining fabric is still needed for the pockets even if you choose not to line the skirt.

Fabric requirements:

Primary fabric: 54″ (135 cm) wide fabric: 1 1/2 – 1 3/4 yd (130 – 150 cm) // 44″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1 5/8 – 2 1/4 yd (150 – 200 cm).

Lining: 44″ (115 cm) wide fabric: Lined option (either pocket), 1 yd (90 cm) // Unlined option (in-seam pocket), 3/8 yd (40 cm) // Unlined option (patch pocket), 1/4 yd (20 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20). Please check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Light to medium weight fusible woven or weft insertion interfacing; 12″ (30 cm) invisible zipper; hook and eye (size 1); 12″ (31 cm) of 3/8″ or 1/2″ (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape; 1/8″ (0.3 cm)-wide twill tape or fabric selvedge as long as your waist (or your desired waist length) // In-seam pockets only: 24″ (61 cm) of 3/8″ or 1/2″ (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape // Patch pockets only: two 1/2″ (1.25 cm) buttons.
