Penny Dress – Sew Over It

A review of Sew Over It Penny Dress

I loved the Penny Dress when it was first released, but was unsure about sizing, particularly across my bust. When the Sew Over It team published the tie blouse hack, I realised this would be the perfect opportunity to test out the size and have a lovely new top to wear – win win!

As this was a hack, I opted for a wearable toile, using a lovely cheap cotton I picked up in Sri Lanka. I needn’t have worried as the top fits really well, but the fabric is fab anyway and a really great pairing to make a top. I think it may be a cotton / linen blend – it’s great in hot weather anyhow.

In terms of construction the blouse was pretty easy to put together. The instructions, both in the pattern, and on the hack blog post were easy to follow. As I’ve noted others saying, ideally I’d like it to have been a little longer – it’s a bit too cropped for my liking, and I’d also like to make the armhole finish a little stronger.
