Gretta Top

Reviewed by thepetitepassions on 28th June, 2017

I was immediately drawn to this top because of the shoulder tie option – not the kind of thing you would find often on the high street I think. I used a viscose fabric for a really drapey look and comfort on a hot day. The pattern has a few pieces, mainly the eight shoulder tie panels that need to be cut. Other than that the front and back bodice are a simple construction with bust darts and neckline facings. Sewing the ties and adding them with the facing is a little fiddly and time consuming but still fairly easy to put together really and could be done by a beginner.
I think the sizing of this vest needs work – I need to take in the side seams which look like they are billowing out (you can’t tell in my photo because of the angle and pose, but they are). The shoulder ties mean that you can adjust some elements as you wear them, but still the sides are too wide (not the bottom hem though, just the sides, which is odd.)
