This sheer top is SO easy to wear and SO easy to make. It is literally just 2 pieces of fabric sewn together. Perfect for beginners or anyone who loves the current batwing trend out there. Batwing top free sewing pattern
The fabric is was cheap, cheap, cheap! Bought from the blue cross sale from the Shuttle in Shipley, it was about £2 / metre I think. You just have to buy a minimum amount of 3 metres.
It is edged at the cuffs with a thin band of neon orange trim which makes something that could be a bit bog standard into something special and a bit funky. All the edges are created with a tiny turned over hem. Don’t forget to Stay Stitch your curved neckline!
Click the link above to download your free PDF pattern. You can print it out on pieces of paper like tiles and stick it together to make a full size pattern. The first one is set up for A4 paper and the second one is set up for American Letter size.
This pattern takes 1.75 metres of fabric (standard 150cm / 60inch width).
All my free sewing patterns are made to fit a UK size 12, but can be easily adjusted at key points to go larger or smaller. Have a look at the Making a pattern fit page for how to do it.
