Adventure Tank

I actually followed the Creativebug class for this pattern (which included the pattern) and can’t recommend it highly enough. I just got a serger (the cheap and cheerful Brother 1034D) and was looking for a nice simple pattern that would allow me to practice using the new machine. Lo and behold – this popped up on my Creativebug home page.

There are two versions of the Adventure Tank and I plumped for the racerback version. “Muscle Tank” doesn’t sound too much like me. 🙂 Actually, it looks like a nice little t-shirt as well. The tank I made has only two main body pieces and then the neckline and armholes are finished by serging on strips of the same fabric (or contrast if you prefer). I used a very lightweight rayon jersey, which pressed like a dream, but did stretch a bit in the construction part. The pics show it stretched around the armholes, BUT after I washed it, it magically sprang into the proper sizing and now it’s perfect!

The instructions on the video were simple, but very clear and I have no doubt the written instructions are the same, since I have always found that to be the case with Fancy Tiger Crafts patterns. This top took me around 2hrs to sew up and I’m not a particularly fast sewer, so others will find it even quicker I’m sure.

Overall, if you’re looking for a summer tank, for layering, working out or even nightwear, I can recommend this as a pretty failsafe make that should get you just that. Enjoy! There are more construction photos over on my blog if you’re interested. 🙂
