• @rosiejane I agree about the styles that I love but don’t suit – I love the look of vintage style – Joan in Mad Men or Dita von Teese, but there’s no way I would spend that much time getting ready to look that polished. And Docs with girly clothes sounds great!

I’ve attached my core style mood board, really enjoyed making that – on to silhouettes…[Read more]

  • I’m sure it’s fine if you have a huge colour palette, @juju – after all, this is all about helping us works out what we love, what fits with our own unique personalities and bodies 🙂
I have sewn with lots of colours and patterns, but this made me realise that I will always better love the clothes that I make using the colours that really make me…[Read more]

  • @juju I still can’t… @thefoldline can you help – I can’t see an attachment, do I need to change settings or something?
Thank you ? fabulous is my go to word for describing clothes and things I love so I thought it fitted! It’s aspirational at the moment but will get there ? what’s your blog called?

  • @juju I would love to see your mood board but can’t see it on here – is there a link I’m missing? Would love to see what pictures go with those words!
@penguinandpear really enjoying your posts! 🙂

@juju This sounds really interesting, what would be involved?

    • I wanted to see how much (if any) interest there would be.
I have room to host this in my Hackney home. It would probably need to happen over 2 or 3 weeks. On the first week, we would make the body cast with plaster of paris strips or glued back brown paper. It really helps to have a partner who understands what you are trying to achieve, in…[Read more]

@juju yes the hammer on ones are a lot stronger from experience than the tape.. you really don’t want them popping open on a body do you!
@missmaddysews great post from Ohhh Lulu!

Hmm, good question @juju! I haven’t personally sewn anything with popper tape before, so I’m hoping someone here can chime in with more expert advice! For which closure are you using it, back or crotch? If the latter, Ohhh Lulu did a post about constructing her romper for which she used hammer-in snaps at the crotch, which would I imagine be a…[Read more]

Thank you miss maddy. I was interested that Ohh Lulu interfaces her gusset tape area. And @foldline hammering poppers may be the solution but it would be easier if I could just find a good strong tape. I’ve ordered a different one from eBay. I’ll see if it is any better. I’ll let you know if I solve this one. Always loved bodysuits but the crotch…[Read more]

@juju try “vena cava designs” online, but make sure you type in the whole thing in google or you’ll get nasty medical conditions in the search! Also try the English Couture Company. For stretch lace try Gypsy Lace, based in Derby.

@juju I’m not UK based so haven’t ordered from them personally, but I’ve heard http://sewingchest.co.uk/ and http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk/shop/ are two good places to order from in the UK 🙂

    @juju What was it like?

    • juju replied 2 years ago

A bit weird, actually. They did draft a good fit (I made a jacket), but I don’t think the sleeve was accurately represented in the illustration. I tried to find some reviews before I bought it but I couldn’t find any. The patterns are cheap though. I’m just not sure the illustrations are all that accurate. They would probably be a good starting…[Read more]

    Thanks @thefoldline and @juju
I am hoping the sun lasts a bit longer for me to wear it! I will make definitely post a review about this!

@juju Hi, great thanks for these, we will contact them too. It’s great to get feedback so we can make things work better. We just weren’t expecting so many people to join so soon! : )

    • It doesn’t surprise me that it has happened this way for you. My own business plan (I am launching a pattern company in 2016) was relying on a service similar to Ravelry for sewers coming in to existence in the next 10 months. Let me know if there is anyway I can help.
