I wanted to see how much (if any) interest there would be.
I have room to host this in my Hackney home. It would probably need to happen over 2 or 3 weeks. On the first week, we would make the body cast with plaster of paris strips or glued back brown paper. It really helps to have a partner who understands what you are trying to achieve, in…[Read more]

Thank you miss maddy. I was interested that Ohh Lulu interfaces her gusset tape area. And @foldline hammering poppers may be the solution but it would be easier if I could just find a good strong tape. I’ve ordered a different one from eBay. I’ll see if it is any better. I’ll let you know if I solve this one. Always loved bodysuits but the crotch…[Read more]

hello all. i have been making bodysuits but i need some advice on closures. i prefer poppers to hook and eyes because they are easier to do up. i bought some popper tape which worked fine at first but then they all unpopped on the second wearing. Does anyone have experience in finding good strong popper tape?

    • Hmm, good question @juju! I haven’t personally sewn anything with popper tape before, so I’m hoping someone here can chime in with more expert advice! For which closure are you using it, back or crotch? If the latter, Ohhh Lulu did a post about constructing her romper for which she used hammer-in snaps at the crotch, which would I imagine be a…[Read more]

      • @juju yes the hammer on ones are a lot stronger from experience than the tape.. you really don’t want them popping open on a body do you!
@missmaddysews great post from Ohhh Lulu!

I have made quite a few of her patterns. I will get around to posting them sometime soon.

I think it could make a great layering top. You could even make a top with two layers, the under layer being longer, in a rayon jersey. That would wear well and hide some of the see-throughness.

I used to live around there, 20+ years ago and would go to them. I don’t know if they have changed since then but there are many shops like that over where I am now, in Hackney. I would have thought the rent for shops in Goldhawk would have priced them East long ago.

I’m a curvy girl and I’ve started sewing bodyshaper/bodysuits for myself. Where would y’all recommend for finding a good assortment of knicker elastics and stretchy lace trims in UK?

A bit weird, actually. They did draft a good fit (I made a jacket), but I don’t think the sleeve was accurately represented in the illustration. I tried to find some reviews before I bought it but I couldn’t find any. The patterns are cheap though. I’m just not sure the illustrations are all that accurate. They would probably be a good starting…[Read more]

I’m considering hosting a making of body-double mannequins workshop in Hackney, London. Would anyone be interested in this?

    • @juju This sounds really interesting, what would be involved?
