If anyone is looking for a free PDF copy of the user guide / instruction manual for the ‘Delta OL-1000’ Overlocker (Serger) machine. I’ve just posted today about a copy that I’ve scanned and shared on my blog: http://sew-incidentally.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/delta-ol-1000-overlocker-pdf.html

@kettleyarnco Ah glad you found them! The other good quality shops in Walthamstow IMHO are Saeeds (http://www.saeed-fabrics.co.uk/) and The Textile Centre. I’ve been to the Rolls and Rems Lewisham branch ages ago but I really liked it!

@kettleyarnco It’s actually 2-3 guys who run the stall (T.M.O.S. – The Man Outside Sainsbury’s is just a nickname for the stall ;-)!). The stall is on the market 3-days per week only: Tues + Thurs outside the Halifax/Llyods banks, Saturday = outside Sainsbury’s. The market is situated on Walthamstow’s High Street – enjoy 🙂 (I visit every 2-3…[Read more]

Thanks for this Claire. I did end up finding the stall last Tues! It was pretty obvious when you compared the quality of the wares to the rest of the fabric on offer in the market. ;-P
It was a dangerous find. I am glad I no longer live in Waltham Forest as would be seriously broke! What a find!
Have you heard of Rolls and Rems? Someone…[Read more]

@juicyfruit I’d grade up/down rather than re-work slopers in your “new design” for each size. You could always make Toiles/Muslins for the smallest + biggest sizes to check for fit after maybe? And, always walk the seams for all pieces after you’ve graded them to check they’ll match up and sew-correctly too of course :-)…[Read more]

@dinushi Would the FREE Mallori Lane Bra pattern work for you maybe http://www.madalynne.com/mallori-lane-a-free-pdf-pattern-bra-kits ?

@dinushi This tutorial might give you some good ideas on how to hack a basic sweatshirt (either an existing RTW top – or a sewing pattern) into your desired Lace-y look http://seekatesew.com/lace-yoke-top-tutorial/ 🙂

@melissalovestosew @rosiejane I’ve made Renfrew (by Sewaholic), Plantain (by Deer & Doe) and I’ve made a small 1.5cm FBA on both – where instead of sewing a dart I’ve eased the dart-width onto the back side-seam instead :-). I’ve done the same to Linden Sweatshirt (by Grainline Studio) – but only for 1cm FBA. Works well for small-ish FBA’s – but…[Read more]

@clairesews wowzer, that looks so neat! Clever to match the stripes from the bottom first too. That’s really helpful, thank you!

@rosiejane I’ve made a few Linden Sweatshirts (the short-sleeve, cropped view). It’s a boxy fit, are you after a more fitted silhouette? Grading between multiple-size pattern lines could work ok – try it and see 🙂 🙂
-
You’re right, @clairesews – it’s a boxy fit, which I was happy with but then I got distracted by other versions! I added some length and left off the bottom cuff, but I think then I ended up looking drowned in it. So I’ve now chopped off the bottom so it’s the original length, and it looks much better. I should have stuck to the pattern, which I…[Read more]
