Buy the Valo Dress and Top sewing pattern from Named. The Valo pattern includes two variations: a midi dress with an elastic waist and large patch pockets, and a relaxed-fit top with a gathered drawstring waist. Both variations have a distinctive heart-shaped yoke with a scoop neck at the front and a V-neck at the back. The dress hip seam is reinforced with a flat-felled seam, which gives it a lovely shape, and works as a subtle detail. The dress features elegant half-sleeves whilst the top comes with perky short sleeves. You can also make the dress with short sleeves and a drawstring waist, and the top with half sleeves and an elasticated waist.

Suggested fabrics: Choose a non-stretch, medium weight fabric. You can opt for a low drape fabric, like the linen blend in the samples, or a more drapey one, depending on the desired result. The designer recommends choosing a contrast colour for the yoke, or using the wrong side of your fabric for contrast or cutting it cross-grain, if your fabric allows.

Fabric requirements: The fabric requirements include a 5% allowance for shrinkage. Note that the fabric consumption may be greater for fabrics with a pattern and for fabrics that need to be cut in one direction.

Main: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 175 – 240 cm (1 7/8 – 2 5/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 230 – 270 cm (2 1/2 – 3 yd).

Contrast: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 60 cm (5/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 105 cm (1 1/8 yd).

Top

Main: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 80 – 130 cm (7/8 – 1 3/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 120 – 135 cm (1 1/4 – 1 1/2 yd).

Contrast: 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 60 cm (5/8 yd) // 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 60 – 105 cm (5/8 – 1 1/8 yd).

Sizing: EU 32 – 56 (approx. UK 6 – 28, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
