Sew Reporter – 6th February

It’s the first Sunday of February and we are feeling quite ready for spring. You might have noticed we’ve had a little refresh across the website and social media so we feel like we are on top of our to-do list!

We’ve got some great things to share that we’ve spotted in the world of sewing this week. Grab a cuppa, get comfy and enjoy!

Quilted jackets are SEW on-trend at the moment! We have seen plenty of quilted jackets on the high street and it’s had us rifling through our pattern library to see how you can recreate this style with the power of sewing!

If you want to dip your toe into sewing a quilted jacket, we have some great options to share with you. If the quilting part doesn’t appeal to you, there are lots of lovely pre-quilted fabrics out there that take care of that step!

Here are a few of our favourite sewing patterns for recreating this look:

HOVEA JACKET by MEGAN NIELSEN – UK 6 – 20 Format – Paper
MOLLY JACKET by FIBRE MOOD SIZING – UK 6 – 28/30 Format – PDF
TAMARACK JACKET by GRAINLINE STUDIO SIZING – UK 8 – 18 or UK 16 – 30 Format – Paper
VILLANELLE COAT by VIKISEWS SIZING – UK 6 – 20 Format – PDF
PEKKA JACKET by READY TO SEW SIZING – UK 6 – 14/16 or UK 18 – 30 Format – PDF
AYORA JACKET by PAULINE ALICE SIZING – UK 6 – 22 Format – Paper

We just HAD to share this incredible make by @amnna_illustrations that popped up on our Instagram feed. Amnna used the Feliz Dress pattern by Fibre Mood from our shop and made it up during little pockets of time while her toddlers were napping. We are definitely inspired to copy this exact look, it’s so good!

“Sunshine in a dress” is how Salva described this cheery make and we couldn’t agree more! Salva used the Ellis Dress sewing pattern by Merchant and Mills and this stunning zesty lemon gingham. This is just the tonic for grey winter days, we love it Salva!

We have been busy restocking some of your favourite sewing paper sewing patterns including designers; Merchant and Mills, Deer and Doe and Atelier Scammit. We’ve popped a selection for you to browse below!

We have said goodbye to January, but we did have a lovely batch of new pattern releases that you may have missed! Have no fear, Kate is here to catch you up on some of her favourites that hit the shop. You can peruse your favourites and pick something fab to add to your handmade wardrobe.

We spotted that @sewn_on_the_tyne has set a date for a #SewToon meet up! If you are based in the Newcastle area, you can join like-minded sewists on SUNDAY 27TH FEBRUARY for a day of sewing, chatting & drinking tea. Check out Tamlyn’s Instagram post for all the details.

Each month we will be making a donation from our profits to a different charity. This month we have chosen to donate to, Missing People a UK charity lifeline for anyone affected by someone going missing. Their vision is for every missing child and adult, and every loved one left behind, to find help, hope and a safe way to reconnect.

Come and join our sewing Facebook group where we are chatting about sewing plans, new patterns and helping each other out with projects.
