Sew Reporter – 14th March

It’s that time of the week again where we share lots of goodness from the sewing community. It’s been a bumper couple of weeks for pattern releases as Spring is on the horizon here in the UK. We’ve brought together your weekly dose of inspiration from amazing makes to new pattern releases and podcasts to listen to while you sew. It’s time to warm up the machine and get your sew on!

Meg of Megmade Sewing has sewn up a storm with this wool Pona Jacket form Helen’s Closet. The jacket is an unlined and has a drop shoulder and no front closure with patch pockets. The only adjustment she made was to shorten the sleeves! How impressive are those bound seams?

Erica Bunker sews up a storm in this amazing emerald green McCall’s 8141 halter neck dress (view C). With very little ease, Erica stabilised the arm seams to stop them stretching out. It looks fantastic!

Lucie has reviewed the Honey Blouse from Issue 12 of Fibre Mood. She was inspired to make it from all the big statement collars we are seeing on the high street at the moment but wanted to make something a little more delicate. We also love that this pattern has a frill in the button band to complement the collar!

Brittany Jones shares her stripe print wrap dress by Mimi G x Simplicity 9224. It has a curved hemline and side tie waist. What a great go-to summer dress pattern for this year.

Jemma has reviewed the Chandler Trousers from Untitled Thoughts this week. She was super impressed with the instructions and even though she is a confident beginner, had no trouble sewing these up. They are made from this gorgeous blue Japanese linen, what a great make for Spring!

Emily of Self Assembly Required shares a very on trend tutorial to make a DIY detachable frilled bib collar so she can get her Big Collar Energy fix! Love, love, love this!

Tammy is the designer at Tammy Handmade and she had a lot of FOMO for everyone making the Rose Care Bustier Dress by Daria Patternmaking. No need for any boning or under-wiring, this makes it easier for beginners. What a stunning dress!

Mia challenged herself this week with sewing her first pair of trousers with a fly-front and and welt pockets! The sew-along videos for these Nita Trousers by Amy Nicole really helped and she made very few adjustments. We are super impressed with these!

Belle tested the Monarch Jacket by Allie Olson and liked it so much she made herself a second one! She said the construction was quick for a jacket as it’s made from knit fabrics with raglan sleeves and just a few pattern pieces. We love this coordinating fabric and cuff trims.

There has been a lot of excitement over the the pattern collection from Papercut Patterns in the last week but we also have lots of other new pattern releases for you to browse in our shop!

Megan Nielsen has shared this inspiring blog post with lots of storage ideas for your fabric stash. Do you have an overflowing fabric stash or is it stuffed away in a cupboard and you’ve lost track of what you have? See how the team at Megan Nielsen organise their fabrics.

Honey & Rose is a new designer to The Fold Line family this week. Check them out on the site and let us know if any of these tickle your fancy!
