Sew Reporter – 13 October

Hi team! We’re back this week with a Sew Reporter that is filled to the brim with maker inspiration, new patterns and things we recommend to watch, listen to and browse! Just grab yourself a cuppa, ideally some delicious biscuits and enjoy!

Also on the blog this weekend: New sewing pattern releases in the month of September. It’s definitely been a bumper month with a ton of new gorgeous designs, so head over to the blog to check them all out!

We are super excited to have been nominated for a British Sewing Award by Sew Magazine! If you have a spare moment to vote for us – and some of the other amazing businesses in the sewing industry – that would be wonderful. Click here to cast your vote, it only takes a couple of minutes and you can win some prizes too!

We are obsessed with this True Bias Roscoe dress made by Holly of Holly Dolly Darling. Be sure to check out her blog to see her super cute daughter in a matching outfit!

This might be Katie’s aka What Katie Sews third pair of Trend Patterns Utility trousers, but that doesn’t mean we love it any less!

Just look at those dreamy sleeves! Brittany who blogs at Brittany J. Jones made the McCalls 7838 button up blouse and she looks amazing!

We are taking part in the Simplicity Pattern Hack-along to raise awareness and funds for The Eve Appeal Charity. Rachel used the Simplicity 8888 dress pattern and hacked it into this fabulous jumpsuit! Check out our blog for more info.

We could not love this fabric and this amazing Papercut Patterns Sapporo coat more! Beck from I Sew, Therefore I Am has done such a great job stitching this up.

Meg from Cookin’ and Craftin’ is ready for sweater weather in her snuggly Tobin sweater from Cashmerette!

We love this gorgeous outfit from Nicolle aka Merritts Makes. She made the Forget Me Not Patterns Clementine Top and the newly released Chalk and Notch Crew Trousers. What a great combo!

All the heart eyes for this Sew DIY Lou Box Top sewn by Anna aka Blogless Anna. A relatively simple pattern can look so good in the right fabric!

This True Bias Ogden Cami beach dress hack is awesome because SewWatts used a sarong from Thailand! This must have made her holiday in Corfu even more enjoyable!

We fell head over heels in love with Kathy’s aka Sew Dainty Indigo dress by Tilly and the Buttons. She added extra ruffles to the hem to make it look more like THAT Zara dress, and it’s perfection!

Isn’t Samantha aka Purple Sewing Cloud looking absolutely fabulous! She made the recently released Sequence dress by Papercut Patterns and it’s a beaut!

Take a look at all the new fabrics, haberdashery and kits from sewing businesses this week…

Don’t these three colours look great together? They're soft fleece back sweatshirt fabrics from Pin & Sew and we think these would be so good for making a cool hoodie or a snuggly cardigan! Plus, these different colours would be awesome for a matching pair of joggers or some colour blocking.

This faux mohair coating fabric is out of this world! It’s got a fur like finish and it’s ideal for keeping you warm. Fabric Godmother is basically making all your coat dreams come true…

This print we spotted over at Lulou Designs is designed by April Rhodes for Art Gallery Fabrics and we really love how well these colours work together. Simply stunning!

Sew Over It is stocking this gorgeous printed chambray and it’s not your typical plain blue chambray, but that is why we are totally digging it! (No surprise there!)

Wether you’re a cat person or a dog person, we bet you love these fabulous labels as much as we do! Perfect for all your me-mades which “contain dog hair”.

This amazing jersey from Cloth Spot literally stopped us in our tracks. Those colours are SEW good!

NOW is the time to head over to Sew Hayley Jane's website and have a look at the three different themed boxes that are available. There is one available for every budget.

These pretty herringbone Shetland Flannels by Robert Kaufman are from The Draper's Daughter and we love how they’re super soft on both sides, making them perfect for a wide range of winter sewing projects.

Isn't this aqua colour making you dream of white sandy beaches? Loom & Stars sell the most stunning handwoven cottons and this one is no exception!

Is it too early to mention the C word? If you are super organised and already thinking of making your presents, check out this cotton from Cloth Candy, because it is too cute and it would make the best gifts!

If you’ve been looking for a simple, semi-fitted shirt, this might be the one! It's New Look 6394 and it includes different sleeve lengths, hem lengths, and both classic and stand collars. We particularly love those cute little sleeve tabs!

This fabric looks like a game of Tetris and it's so fun! It’s a modern Nigerian Batik fabric from Urban Stax and we think this would make an awesome statement dress!

These DREAMY corduroy fabrics are are from Fabrics Galore and we can see ourselves sewing entire autumn/ winter wardrobes with these! Blazers, trousers, pinafores, the list goes on and on… Endless possibilities!

Hello? Is it me you’re looking for? This seriously fun Ruby Star Society fabric from Sew Me Sunshine features retro telephones with rainbow receivers. Fabrics don’t get much cooler than this!

Lamazi Fabrics is stocking the gorgeous new collection from Atelier Brunette and we’re having a hard time choosing our favourite colour. It might be the blush colour way, but it changes every time we look at this stunning collection!

We keep a handy list of sewing events, exhibitions and meet ups happening in the sewing community all over the world on our sewing social calendar here.

Come and join our sewing Facebook group where we are chatting about sewing plans, new patterns and helping each other out with projects.
