Getting to know pattern designers – Greenstyle Creations
With so much choice from great sewing pattern designers we wanted to start a new feature where we highlight one of the designers on the site. We are kicking off with Greenstyle Creations, who create sewing patterns for men, women & children. They have over 40 dressmaking patterns under their belt. If you haven’t come across their patterns before, what you can expect is a fantastic range of casualwear with a few key pieces of sportswear.
The patterns are only available in PDF format at the moment, the instructions for the patterns are clear and concise and user friendly. We really like the video tutorials on the site to help you with the trickier bits of some of their patterns, it’s so helpful to have these if you get stuck. As well as this the blog is a great place if you fancy taking part in sew-a-longs or just keeping up with their news. Based in America, we managed to interview Angie this week, who designs the patterns for Greenstyle creations to find out more…
“I started designing actual sewing patterns about 10 years ago when I realized I couldn’t find what I wanted. I was just making them for myself at first. At that time, the PDF Pattern world was much smaller and I was amazed at the creativity in the small indie designers and I knew I had stumbled upon my path.”
“Most of my patterns are knit and have a flexible range of body types. I typically start at XXS and go up to 3XL but I have several plus size patterns that start at 3XL and go up to 3X or 4X.”
“My best seller is the Laurel Dressfollowed closely by the Brassie Joggersand the Centerfield Raglan. My favorite of these is the Brassie Joggers! I wear my Brassie Joggers quite often and I have made a few pairs for my husband too.”
“I have made myself several of my latest pattern, the Sundance Jacket. I love that I can make it look “dressy” with the pleats or “sporty” with the hood and plain back. I really LOVE the Sundance Jacket pattern.”
“We are working on some fun things and hope to introduce beginners to new skills with patterns that challenge you both in creativity and sewing skills. Why? because I like to grow as a designer and you like to grow as a sewist!”
Thanks Angie for chatting to us and we look forward to see what patterns you have in store for us next year! To see the full range of Greenstyle Creations patterns, take a look here and you can follow them to keep up to date with the latest pattern releases here.
