Knitting and Stitching Show
This week we went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in Ally Pally, North London. If you haven’t been before it’s a massive sewing retail show. It has companies from all over the UK coming sell their wares, you can expect to find lots of fabrics, sewing patterns, sewing machines, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, wool… the list goes on, basically if you like anything sewing related there will be something for you at this event! It’s absolutely massive and easy to get overwhelmed by the the volume of stuff but after you’ve been once you will get better at navigating your way around.
Another great feature of the show is that lots of companies are releasing new products so you get to see them first. We went to see Wendyfrom MIY Collectionas she has two new patterns out, I also treated myself to some of her amazing scissor jewellery. The new patterns will be up on the website this week!
Cloth Kitswho mainly do kits, launched a range of patterns at the show. We will be adding these up on the site too as the shapes are great and we think they will be really popular.
I think our favourite stand was Merchant and Mills, as well as their beautiful patterns and haberdashery they also have some really interesting fabrics, luckily for my bank balance I have too much fabric at the moment!
We also went to see see Annie from the Village Haberdashery @anniehaberdashery and Anna from Eternal Makeras they always have good fabric. Then onto Sew Over It @lisa-comfort to see the new Joan dresspattern that is so retro chic. On our way out we came across these amazing giant knitting needles from a knitting company called Loopy Mango and they had some of the nicest chunky yarn we have ever seen. We also swung by the Toftstand who do the cutest crochet animals ever and we fell in love with the giant flamingo called Sophia… 4ft no less!
This was my haul from the day and also a couple of company names that tickled us!
On the first day of the Knitting and Stitching show last Wednesday, Butterick hosted an afternoon tea party to raise funds for the Eve Appealand lots of sewists turned up in their Walkaway dresses. Look how amazing these ladies look! For those of you who didn’t get the chance to make a Walkaway dress yet, we have a pattern to giveawayfrom Butterick.
