York top – Colette

A review of York top - Colette

The pattern needs some alterations to fit right. The darts are placed incredibly low, and the back and sleeves are very very tight. It doesn’t appear to match the sizing of other Colette patterns (this is my first Seamwork pattern, maybe they are different), and I needed to adjust the sleeves (increase), neckline, upper back (shorten) and dart placement (lit) in order to get it to fit right.
The bias binding instructions for the neckline are also odd. It asks you to stay stitch at 1/4 inches, but because that is the folded width of the bias binding, any deviations will show. It feels that it is attached the wrong way around, as you stitch it to the right side, then fold towards the back.
